The ideal roster, in my opinion. 47 Characters in total: 33 veterans and 14 newcomers. The ones in color has been confirmed, the ones in gray have not been confirmed and the ones in red are deconfirmed. I will be updating the picture as characters are confirmed and replace the current gray pictures for the official characters' picture.

*Note: All this was written before SSB4’s first trailer was released.
BOWSER JR.: He became a very important character since his debut and he could really be a unique character. There are plenty of games to give him a proper moveset and his paintbrush alone has plenty of potential. I think he really deserves a spot in SSB.
ROSALINA: Her moveset potential is not great so developers would have to get very creative with her. Even though I don’t think she has much chance, I think she would be a good choice.
K. ROOL: He is one of my top choices since I love heavyweight characters and villains. His moveset potential is very high thanks to his many personas. Even though he did not appear in Donkey Kong Country Return, I hope Nintendo hasn’t forgotten about him and how important he is to the Country series.
RIDLEY: Another one of my favorite choices for SSB4. People often say he is too big to be a playable character but forget that most characters in SSB are resized. He also has great moveset potential.
PALUTENA: I am pretty sure she has a great chance. Even though she doesn’t have a good moveset potential, she is yet another character for the developers to be creative with.
CHROM: One of my top choices. His game had great success and he is a fan favorite. His moveset potential is moderate.
LITTLE MAC: He is my top choice for SSB4. Even though he is perfect for SSB, he has not been playable yet so his playable debut is long overdue. His moveset potential is moderate.
VILLAGER: With all the items and collectables in his game, his moveset potential is huge. The female version should also be available as alternate costume.
CHIBI-ROBO: I don’t have much hope for him to be playable, but I do wish he would be. He has a high moveset potential with all the tools he has built into him.
ISAAC: I am not a fan of the Golden Sun series, but after a friend of mine who loves it told me his great potential, I just had to agree he would be a really good addition. Granted he is not one of my top favorite choices for SSB4, but I do think he does deserve a spot.
Mii: Many people don’t like the idea of the Mii, but I think his huge moveset potential alone is enough to consider it.
MEGA MAN: He really deserves a spot. After Sonic, he is the most logical choice as a guest character. His moveset potential is great.
PAC-MAN: Namco is developing SSB4, but that is not the only reason why Pac-Man should be in the game. He is a legend of gaming and he has been on many Nintendo consoles. His moveset potential is moderate.
