Nintendo Anthology by Lwiis64 Nintendo Anthology by Lwiis64
This artwork is a tribute to Nintendo. A company who help build the videogame industry and until this day is still revolutionizing the landscape of videogames and creating new exciting experiences for gamers of all ages.

The company who saved the entire videogame home console industry after the North American Videogame Crash of 1983. The company who have given us classic games such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda and Metroid along with modern classics such as Pokémon, Pikmin and Super Smash Bros. The company who have given us iconic characters such as Mario, Pikachu, Link, Samus and Donkey Kong. The company who's innovations include shoulder buttons, control stick, rumble feature, first console 3D platformer, controllable camera, hub worlds, Z-targeting, dual screen/touch screen gameplay, motion controls and 3D gaming without glasses.

A total of 304 characters from the vast history of Nintendo make an appearance in this artwork. Including many recognizable faces such as Mario, Kirby and Link. You'll also find characters that only the older gamers will recognize and then there's characters that only the most dedicated Nintendo fans will be familiar with. There's also a total of 73 items, vehicles, consoles, handhelds and miscellaneous stuff. In addition, 55 third party characters, who’s games have help build the great catalogs that Nintendo consoles have enjoyed throughout it’s history, make an appearance. Retro legends, videogame icons, past rivals, longtime partners and new supporters. They're all here.

So lets give it up for Nintendo. For all the years of videogame entertainment they have given us and the best of wishes for all the years that the future holds. And thanks to all the third party companies who have supported Nintendo throughout the years.

This is amazing. There are so many characters, and so much accompanying difficulty in distinguishing all of them. This is a work you have to see multiple times to get anything close to the full effect.

And let's not forget the plus-shaped control pad! That one's a classic.
By the way, I can't find Telly or Starly. If it's no trouble, could you please direct me to them?

Very true. The plus-shaped control pad was a big revolution. And Telly is right between ROB and Fi. Starly is on Snorlax's arm.

Should you ever revisit this piece, I hope you'd consider adding Aeron, Elena, and possibly Mavda from Pandora's Tower.

Snorlax is on the left side of the picture, below Whispy Woods. And I have thought about revisiting this artwork and at least Aeron is on the list of characters I'd like to add. Pandora's Tower was a great game.

Never played The Last Story, but I am aware that it was a really good game. It was part of the three really good but unexpected rpgs that hit the Wii in it's later years. The others being Xenoblade Chronicles and Pandora's Tower. And yes, Zael is also on my list of possible inclusions.

That is why people need to read articles and description sections before cluelessly commenting.

This is the explanation for Sonic, Pac-Man and the others being in this artwork:
"55 third party characters, who’s games have help build the great catalogs that Nintendo consoles have enjoyed throughout it’s history, make an appearance."

Basically, you can't think of Nintendo consoles without the great 3rd party games that have been release on them.

It is quite the challenge to name them all. People also seem to enjoy trying to find their favorite characters. Like a game of Waldo, but with Nintendo characters (mostly). I never thought my artwork would work as a game, but I am glad people enjoy it in different ways.

Adding other consoles would not work. The artwork is all about Nintendo and some 3rd parties who have appeared on Nintendo consoles. If I did revisit it, I would add more Nintendo characters (including the Inklings) and I would probably cut some characters that I don't think belong there or just to slightly reduce the numbers of series like Mario, Zelda and Pokemon in favor of other series's representation.

In Pokémon: Jirachi Wishmaker, Jirachi had its powers drained, thus creating a crappy demon from the underground. The demon used his powers to render each tree useless unless Ash is sent from Pallet Town to send it back where it came from. To make matters worse, the demon used his powers to bring/swallow every person into his body, much to Ash's dismay. That demon is Groudon, an ancient Pokémon from the Ruby/Sapphire games. Only Jirachi could send it to the moon. I have that movie on DVD which is made/released by Miramax (thru Buena Vista Distribution Company/The Walt Disney Company) in 2004.

Where in the hell was Quote?
I know he's in the image somewhere, but trying to find him in THIS image is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. XD (never mind, I just found him LOL)

I'm almost tempted to say that there should have been at least one more Cave Story character in here (like Sue, King, Balrog, Curly or Ballos). Always gotta pay tribute to the classics :D

Apart from that, amazing job! :)

Quote was one of the last minute additions and he fills the role of modern third party character from 3DS. His inclusion alone was a stretch so I really don't think another Cave Story character is needed. But thanks for the comment and very glad you liked the picture. Thanks!
